Life's a B******: The Actor's Guide to Balancing Life, Lines, and Love
Life's truly a B******. What word did we bleep out? You guessed it wrong. LIFE'S A BALANCE, guys! As actors, life can get pretty hectic. I'm experiencing a sort of chaotic, fun, stressful time in my life right now as we prepare for the production of Harper's Radar (www.harpersradar.com). As an actress, writer, and executive producer for the scripted series, I have a lot on my plate (as many of you do). I think life can be many things, but above all things life must be a balance between the things you want and need.
A few weeks ago, I was terribly stressed. I was overwhelmed with my 9-to-5 job, graduate school work, and acting career. My mom told me that I need to figure out what areas I can cut back on and I decided to go part-time at my job for a little bit. This really freed up my schedule just enough for me to be able to breathe again. While I still have a lot on my plate, I have allocated more time to the things that matter most: my family, my education, and my acting goals. I am less stressed which allows me to be more considerate of others. I used to be so focused on how much I had to do and how tired I was that I would dread the next day before it even got there. That's no way to live!!! Everyday should be fresh, renewing, and exciting. Many of you need to take my mom's advice and ask yourself: What can I cut back on to make more time for life, lines (if you're an actor), and love?
